ANOTHER SAIJO DAY TRIP (PART 1)
Last month I made another trip out to the neighbouring town of Saijo to see if I could fine any more stuff to photograph.
I’d spotted on the map a couple of temples north of the station that looked promising, together with some historical remains, and indeed the area turned out to be quite scenic indeed, including that rarest of landscapes in Japan - meadow! Most of the country seems to be either urban or suburban areas squashed into narrow bits of flat land between the central mountains and the coast, interspersed with a few rice paddies the more suburban you get. Grassy flat land just isn’t a thing. Or that’s what I thought until I discovered a gorgeous area of meadow in Saijo with just a few farmhouses and ruins of historic buildings scattered over it.
To be honest, it quite took my breath away - to see undulating fileds full of grass and wild flowers with gentle hills in the background make me think of Europe.
Anyway, here are some of the photos from that day, all taken with the old Nikon D7200 and processed in Affinity Photo 2. Once again, yes, I know the vertical shots are huge, but that’s down to the dismal features of Squarespace’s blogging tool which does not allow you to size pics.
