NEW SINGLE RELEASED
Yes, that’s right, my electronic music outfit ‘Easter Islanders’ has sent forth a new dollop of musical outpouring to all of yer fave streaming services. And there was rejoicing in the land!
So what have we got for this first effort of 2026? Well, this one is not particularly electronic - it does have synths, yes, but it also has real bass guitar and electric guitars, so it’s probably more rock than techno. Think of it as a mid-paced slightly evil-sounding piece of early 1980s post-punk.
This track has an interesting origin story. From time to time I like to dip into the back catalogue and update songs I wrote years (or decades ago) and give them a new shiny coat of paint. In this case, I wrote the song around 1983. The following year one of my bandmates came round my house clutching a little Casio keyboard, and we decided to record the song on cassette, using two cassette recorders to do primitive multitracking. Somewhere along the way, the song, which was originally noisy rock with gloomy lyrics, got transformed into an almost ‘disco’ style with a bouncy chorus. This time around I thought I’d try to record it as originally intended, but in the end I went with the same dancey vibe, because who doesn’t like bobbing their noddle to some gloomy riffs backed by a disco beat?
Anyway, you can get grab it on Shittify and Arsehole Music (and elsewhere), or just listen for free here…
