NEW SINGLE RELEASED

Your favourite electronic music ensemble, Easter Islanders, have released a new track.

What do we have this time? Well, it’s a melodic danceable little slice of retro synth goodness. Starting off with a pulsing staccato synth riff against a disco beat, it transitions into a spacious, airy chorus followed by a host of variations on the main theme, culminating in quite a nifty synth solo on the way out.

The song has the intriguing title “c_matinowa ‘39,” which is quite out there, even by my standards. Inspiration for titles can come from many places, often the book I’m currently reading, but in this case it was a PDF file I found on my phone. This file bore the name c_matinowa - and while I was wondering what the hell it was, it struck me as looking like a Polish word (at least the ‘matinowa’ part). As I was at that moment listening to a podcast about the Nazi invasion of Poland, and on the lookout for a new song title, I just stuck ‘39 on the end (the year of the invasion), and there it was - a very late Aphex Twin-like moniker.

It soon transpired that the file was just a bus timetable for a loop line I use, and the apparent Polishness was just a result of a mistransliteration of the Japanese word for town (machi).

Anyway, here it is, with a real photo on the cover, taken by me and not some AI slop like I often use. You can listen at all the usual suspects…
